I can't believe I'm doing this.

The Wardrobe Refashion Pledge

I Jenni,

Pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 months.

I Pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recylcle pre-loved items for myself for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I shall create and craft items of clothing for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoated, recylcled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftyness brings!

I have to be honest. The stashalong is not that difficult for me. I could probably stashalong indefinately, especially if I am allowed a purchase day a month. But THIS! Oh, I am not sure I can do it. At first I thought "NO WAY"!! But then I thought of the potential savings and the brownie points I could scored with my husband. You see, I love to buy clothes. And I don't buy cheap clothes either.

But as I thought about the options, I realized that I can alter, sew, and knit clothes! I thought that this might just be do-able. I am however only committing to 2 months. We will see how it goes.

My summer challenges go this way:

I think I can combine some of these, but it sounds like I will be busy!!!

Wow! You are going to be busy! I fell off the Stashalong wagon today. It's ok though. I could probably do the refashion, of course I haven't bought a new article of clothing in months anyway.

Best wishes on your effort to abide by your contract. I think you can do it! : )

Your red and lilac projects are beautiful!

Great idea! Just think of the original clothing you may end up creating.

I love to take sweaters made from luxury yarns and reclaim the yarn. Being able to use cashmere and angora with abandon because it only cost a little is great fun.

The Bobble Blue is lovely! Looking forward to seeing the finished item.

It's great to have you join us a lucybug.org!

I love the idea of that! I just wish I were a bit better seamstress. That said, I think I can only afford to shop in my basement right now for clothes so it wouldn't be soo hard to take the pledge. I'll have to think about it...

Very busy! But what fun to be doing. I'll be interested in seeing how cost saving you made it, neither my sewing or knitting is all that cheap.

Bagaholics, eh? I've got a couple of bags I'd love to make but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Your pledge not to buy any clothing is awesome! Unforunately for me, I managed to buy a dress when Filene's (from May Company's New England stores) had a 75% off sale on the lowest tagged price and bought a $160 silk dress for $12.50 (tag price was $50). BUT... I do refuse to buy anything knitted/crocheted that I can make!

Ooh. I recommend Generation T, by Megan Nicolay. It's a bunch of sewing projects, all made of refashioned T-shirts. It's a pretty fun book.
